Proplend is a growing Peer to Peer lending platform for Commercial Investment Property. We are seeking an experienced Property Banker with a proven track record in Credit and Underwriting.

The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of commercial real estate (including office, retail, warehouse, and multi-family residential assets), strong credit and analytical experience, familiarity with loan and security documentation, an understanding of property valuation and excellent Excel modelling skills. The successful candidate will be a part of a small, focused team and will be involved in all aspects lending transactions from their sourcing, closing, ongoing management through to repayment.


The role will include the following responsibilities:

  • Assist in the origination, assess, structure and completion of commercial property lending transactions up to a value of £5m
  • Analyse the risk of a loan request to ensure that it makes commercial sense, is affordable and consistent with Proplend underwriting criteria
  • Assess the credit worthiness and capabilities of borrowers and tenants
  • Collection of underwriting data
  • Carry out checks in relation to the borrowers (KYC / credit / fraud)
  • Instruct law firms and valuers and work with other relevant outside professionals
  • Prepare and manage documentation (Heads of Terms, Credit Applications, Facility Letters and Security Documentation)
  • Provide link for colleagues on all matters relating to underwriting and completion of the loans
  • Ensure that all conditions are met throughout the life of the loans and actively manage the loans through to repayment.
  • Management of arrears / work out


The role requires the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable property finance experience
  • Previous experience performing due diligence, documenting and analysing commercial property loans within a bank or similar
  • Strong knowledge of commercial property lending market
  • IT literate: able to use the full suite of Microsoft Office; Salesforce experience an advantage but not essential
  • Ability to analyse financial accounts accurately
  • Up to date knowledge of lending assessment techniques and tools
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • Strong planning and problem solving skills
  • Ability to drive forward multiple transactions

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship. This will be a remote position but you will be required to spend some time in our office which is based in Ascot (2 minutes from the station).

Proplend has two distinct client bases; owners of income producing commercial property (the borrowers) and cash rich income poor individuals and institutions (the ‘Lenders’)

We are looking for a highly motivated individuals to originate and underwrite investment opportunities for the Proplend platform, focusing on managing relationships and creating a uniform positive experience for property owners using the platform. You will most likely have a background in  property finance banking or as a surveyor and will have deep experience in a specific geographic location within England and Wales. You will be a highly motivated individual who thrives being part of a team but has the initiative to work independently and for most of the time remotely.


The role will include the following responsibilities;

  • Take full responsibility within your location originating borrower deal-flow from either your own existing contacts / relationships or through coordinated marketing efforts
  • Meet with borrowers and view properties
  • Produce quantatitive and qualatative analysis of the borrower, the property, tenants and the financial borrowing requirement
  • Work with Proplend to develop systemic methods for originating and underwriting property transactions


Skills and experience you will need to demonstrate in this position:

  • 5+ years experience working in property finance or surveying
  • A willingness to provide a superior borrower experience
  • A solid understanding of commercial property investment and property finance underwriting
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Significant organizational skills and a willingness to think laterally
  • Must be self-motivated and resilient, able to work independently as well as work in a team orientated environment
  • Computer literate, Microsoft products essential and Salesforce experience very useful
